Exporting from BMO.

About a minute, on BMO's website. Berm has been tested on a file laid out like the one it gives you.

The steps

  1. Sign in to BMO online banking and choose your chequing account.
  2. Choose Download, above the transactions.
  3. Pick the dates.
  4. Choose Spreadsheet (CSV format), then Download.

The file opens with a line saying when it was made. Berm skips it and reads the table under it.

What the file holds

  • One amount column: money out is negative.
  • Dates year, month and day with nothing between (20260813).
  • No running balance, so Berm asks for your balance once, on a slider.

Then

Open Berm and choose the file on the Import card. It is read on your device and never uploaded; Berm says what it found in each column before anything is added, and importing the same file twice changes nothing.
